If you are a freshman or sophomore in college going home for Thanksgiving or Winter break, watch out for the big question—What is your major? Choosing a college major feels like a daunting task, as if it will define you and profoundly affect the rest of your life. You may hear a dozen voices going off in your head, your parents telling you to major in something practical and your six-year-old self urging you to follow your dreams. Before you read any further, I want you to know that, in most cases, you do not need to know exactly what you want to do in life the minute you arrive on campus.  In fact, many students change their college major more than once as they discover new areas of interest. (I personally changed mine 4 times.)  That being said, having some idea of what you may be interested in studying can be a great help as you search for a school that will be the right fit for you.
