College Calling?
Deciding which college meets the wants, needs and demands of you and your parents and your future career aspirations can be a daunting task, to say the least. Everyone wants a school with a strong academic reputation but what about a good social scene, scholarship opportunities, and even the alumni of a school? There are many questions to ask yourself before saying “I do” to any U.
In my experience, proximity to my family made a huge difference in my school choice. I wanted to have access and time to spend with them and not have to worry about booking a flight or driving a gazillion miles. Another factor that weighed heavily on my choice was which school offered the majors I was interested in pursuing. Going to study Arabic when I’ve never taken a class or even heard the language spoken, was not realistic. I needed to decide on a major or a few possible majors and follow-up by finding colleges with those programs.
The most important three factors to consider:
- What size school do you prefer? Large, medium or small?
- What location(s) are important to you?
- Can you afford your dream school? If not, what are your other options?
